Clipper crew visit Mazarin Qingdao Shipyard

Xiangsheng Wang, Qingjun Liu and Mingyue Liu (father and daughter), the Chinese crew of “Qingdao”  boat of the 2015-16 Clipper Round the World Boat Race, and several reporters visited the ship builder of the Clipper boats—Mazarin (Qingdao) Shipyard on March 17th, 2016. They explored the overall strength of “made in Qingdao” and the upcoming Mazarin 72ft sport-leisure sailing boat.

When Mazarin met with Clipper the dream is never far away. The 12 70ft racing boats that have been racing for the past two years, were all build by Mazarin (Qingdao) Shipyard. This is the first time that professional grand sailing boats built in China were used in a international round the world boat race.

On Dec 26th, 2012, the first “made in Qingdao” Clipper 70ft sailing boat was launched in Qianwan Port, Huangdao District, Qingdao. A year later, the 12 racing boats set sail from London and started the journey of Clipper Round the World Race. Compliments from the racers and medias proved that they are paragons of sailing boats. The boats adopt a unique streamlined appearance. Their sailing speed could reach 18knots without any power. The hull as a whole is vacuum infusioned , so the weight is 20% less compare with that of conventional process. Many parts of the hull are reinforced with carbon fibers. The fact that they are still competing in the race proves their quality and reliability.

Mazarin 72 Sailing Yacht is a harmonious combination of sport spirit and leisure style. So far it is unprecedented on size, configuration and quality in China. Not only all the crucial parts are made with great care but also the luxury interior are designed and produced with refined thoughtful details to meet the most demanding needs. It is a great achievement of the combination of German design, shipbuilding experience, quality material and good craftsmanship. The hull, with a stunning flag blue PU painting topcoat, is vacuum infusioned with VE resin and reinforced with unidirectional carbon fiber fabric.  All the equipments on board are carefully chosen, such as LEWMAR anchor winch, electric windlasses, and a VOLVO D3-220 diesel engine. The interior features 3 gorgeous cabins and a grand saloon. It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy life after some body-building sports activity!
